A minor geomagnetic storm means there's a possibility the northern lights will make an appearance on Sept. 5 into Sept. 6, acccording to the Space Weather Prediction Center.

"Aurora may be visible at high latitudes, i.e., northern tier of the U.S. such as northern Michigan and Maine," a watch from the agency said.

Unlike the prediction earlier this week that include most of New Hampshire, this time a glimpse of the phenomenon would likely require a trip north.

Partly cloudy skies in much of the region will make it more difficult to spot them.
