PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) -- Labor Day weekend was quite busy throughout the commonwealth, according to the Pennsylvania State Police, with many arrests made due to individuals driving under the influence.

PSP reports from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1, they investigated 747 crashes during the weekend, with 129 injuries and 6 deaths in those crashes. It was determined that impaired driving was a factor in 64 of those crashes, with 2 being fatal.

Troopers arrested 535 drivers for DUI and issued over 24,000 citations, of which 6,800 were for speeding, 776 for failing to wear a seatbelt, and 147 citations for not having children properly secured in safety seats.

In comparison to Labor Day weekend 2024, there were 678 total crashes, with 7 being fatal and 60 DUI-related crashes.
