After more than three years of construction and a slight delay toward the end, construction on the new $224-million West Lincoln Memorial Hospital is substantially complete.
The occasion was marked with a ceremony Friday when Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) officially took ownership of the Grimsby facility from contractor EllisDon.
With keys in hand, HHS will begin preparations for the hospital’s opening at the end of November.
In a news release, Bruce Squires, vice-president of women’s and children’s health and site executive for the hospital, said the project is a “major investment” in health care for west Niagara.
