An investigation into a Welland resident being threatened with a gun over the long weekend led to a seizures of fentanyl and weapons — including a loaded submachine-gun.
At 6:20 p.m. Aug. 31, Niagara Regional Police were called to a home near Rice and Woodlawn roads.
Police said two people showed up at the home and got into a verbal argument with someone they knew. The pair made threatening remarks and one of the individuals pulled out a firearm.
A police investigation involved detectives from Welland, Niagara Falls and St. Catharines street crime units.
On Thursday, detectives saw one of the suspects in St. Catharines and were led to a home on Melody Lane in Welland. Police contained the home and arrested both suspects after a short foot chase.
