SHREVEPORT, La. — The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana is urging the community to take action as part of Hunger Action Month, a nationwide campaign to raise awareness and inspire involvement in the fight against hunger.
Food Bank Executive Director Martha Marak spoke with KTBS’s Community Projects Director Jan Elkins to discuss the significance of Hunger Action Month and Hunger Action Day, noting that food insecurity continues to affect thousands of families in the region.
The Food Bank of NWLA serves seven parishes, providing food assistance through pantries, school programs, and emergency food boxes. Hunger Action Day, observed nationally in September, encourages residents to “go orange” and show their support for local food banks.
