LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - A weak front is sinking southward and will trigger showers and thunderstorms later today. Temperatures warm fast through lunchtime and reach near 90 degrees during the afternoon. Tailgating for the Cajuns game may see a few storms around, but they should end by the time the game kicks off in the evening hours.

In the tropics, we continue to follow a tropical wave that has a chance of development, though Saharan dust has caused the system to remain weaker than originally thought. It will work its way into the Caribbean where it will encounter more dry air and wind shear. Models indicate it should stay weak through the next week, but we will keep a watch on it in case things change.
