Cheech the pit bull, seized by Brainerd police Aug. 16 after two men allegedly used the dog to fight another pit bull, will be destroyed after the city council voted to declare it dangerous. Two men are charged with felonies after staging a dog fight at a home on Fir Street in Brainerd.

30 years ago (1995)

If its residents vote yes, Baxter will have its own 56425 zip code on the first of the year. But if residents vote no, they’ll have to wait another 10 years before they get another chance. The city council and mayor say the zip code is urgently needed to aid emergency responses.
