A major Leicestershire road is closed this afternoon following a 'police incident'. The A6 near Great Glen is shut southbound between the Glen Rise roundabout and Station Road.

The closure was announced at 2:34pm today (Saturday, September 6). Leicestershire Police say the northbound carriageway will also close once the southbound side reopens, but no time has been given.

We have approached the police to find out the reason behind the closure and are working to get further details. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes.
