A 56-year-old man died in a late-night house fire in Montgomery on Friday, rescue officials said.

At 10:13 p.m. on Sept. 5, Montgomery Fire/Rescue units responded to a single-story residential building in the 300 block of Bowling Green Drive, said K. R. Peoples, MFR District Fire Chief. Peoples said that smoke and flames were visible upon arrival. After putting out the fire, a search yielded a man trapped in the home.

Peoples said that MFR personnel brought the man — 56-year-old William T. Rohan — outside and tried to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:50 p.m.

There were no other reports of injury, with the cause of the fire still under investigation, Peoples said.
