SOMERVILLE, Texas (KBTX) - The Somerville Yeguas took a step back Friday night with a 48-0 defeat at home to Weimar after last week’s win against Normangee.
Why did Weimer win? The Wildcats’ athleticism - particularly on the defensive line - prevented the Yeguas from establishing any sustained momentum. Offensively, Weimar’s talent and depth in the backfield came in waves and wore down the Somerville defense.
Standout performance: Weimar senior Raul Sierra contributed on both sides for the Wildcats. He was a weapon as a running back and flashed defensively as a linebacker.
What’s next? Somerville (1-1) will look to rebound on the road against Hempstead next Friday.
