GREENVILLE, Maine — A pilot suffered only minor injuries Saturday morning after the seaplane he was flying had a harsh landing on Moosehead Lake at the International Seaplane Fly-in in Greenville.
The seaplane, a Grumman G-44A Widgeon, was flown by 76-year-old Barry Holtz of Fairport, New York, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Holtz was participating in the weekend-long fly-in. The aircraft went down shortly before 9 a.m. near Moose Island and sank to the bottom of the lake.
Air traffic control volunteers on-site said Holtz was attempting to land when he got distracted while changing radio frequencies.
