LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei announced an undocumented man who attempted to run away from a Border Patrol agent was arrested for assault and inflicting bodily injury.

Marco Cupil-Hernandez entered the U.S. illegally by wading through the Rio Grande River, but was immediately caught by Border Patrol agents.

However, Cupil-Hernandez allegedly complained about an injury to his knees and was taken to the hospital.

Cupil-Hernandez was released from the hospital with a limp, and when a Border Patrol agent reportedly tried to assist him into a vehicle, he pushed the agent and tried to run.

A struggle began, and every time the Border Patrol agent allegedly tried to grab onto a piece of Cupil-Hernandez’s clothing, he removed it.

Cupil-Hernandez then reportedly elbowed
