A cold front will slowly push across the region tonight into Sunday, and it’s a setup that will bring showers, storms, and locally heavy rain.
The highest concern is for areas along and east of Highway 17, including the Crystal Coast and Outer Banks. That’s where the most persistent rain and storms will develop Sunday afternoon as the front interacts with the sea breeze. Up to an inch of rain is likely, with localized higher totals possible. Because storms may repeatedly move over the same locations, localized flooding is possible.
Temperatures will reflect the change, too. After today’s 90s inland, highs Sunday will be capped in the upper 70s to mid 80s thanks to cloud cover and northerly breezes.
