OOLITIC, Ind. — A Lawrence County man was arrested Thursday evening after allegedly leading Indiana State Police on a high-speed chase while intoxicated.
According to a release from ISP, in the evening hours of Sept. 4, a trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop on State Road 37, just south of Main Street in the town of Oolitic when a silver BMW allegedly passed him at a high rate of speed.
The trooper reportedly clocked the BMW at 120 mph before briefly losing sight of it. The trooper caught back up with the BMW after it turned onto westbound State Road 54.
Police say the trooper continued to follow the BMW, driven by 21-year-old Elijah R. Hess of Avoca, but lost sight of it a second time after Hess turned southbound onto Greer Lane.
