ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Missouri lawmakers will be back in Jefferson City next week to continue the work of this special session that could bring changes to the state’s Congressional map and the citizen-led petition process.
Last November, abortion, paid sick leave and sports betting were all passed through initiative petitions, but right now, lawmakers in Jefferson City are considering a change to the benchmark, which would make it harder for citizen-led petitions to pass.
One of the biggest changes in the proposal is it would no longer be a simple majority of statewide voters to get these petitions through, but a majority of voters in each Congressional district.
If this gets passed by the Missouri House and Senate, Missouri voters next year would be the ultimate deciders on
