DORR, Mich. (WOOD) — A 20-year-old man was rescued from Lake Michigan after a kayak capsized near Holland on Saturday, officials say.

According to the Park Township Fire Department, the kayak capsized about 700 feet off of Holland’s south pier. A sailboat tried to help the man before the fire department arrived.

Park Township FD says that the Marine Division threw a rescue line to the man, before he was able to secure it and be pulled to a personal watercraft and

The man was wearing a life jacket, according to the fire department. His kayak was retrieved once it floated back to shore.
