The UK's Emergency Alert system is being tested today and the alarm is expected to be sent to millions of devices across the country.
The nationwide test of the alerts looks to inform the government on whether the system is working as it should, in preparation for a real emergency.
The alert was tested previously in April 2023, and has been used five times since to alert the public of emergency scenarios such as Storm Darragh in December 2024, when wind gusts caused dangerous conditions in parts of the country.
But when the system was tested back in 2023, some mobile phones did not receive the alert such as those on the Three network. Following this, the government said it would resolve the issue in order to ensure the alert be sent to everyone during a future test or emergency.
