NORMAN, Okla. — A broken play in Michigan’s loss to No. 18 Oklahoma on Saturday appears to have sparked a fiery exchange between Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood and running back Justice Haynes.
ABC cameras caught the second-quarter war of words between Underwood, a freshman, and the junior transfer Haynes, who had to be held back from one another by teammates and staff.
“Just a communication error,” Michigan coach Sherrone Moore said afterward, trying to explain the issue away. “They both just want to be right. They’re both competitors.”
The sideline drama played out as kicker Dominic Zvada missed on a 32-yard field goal attempt, capping a 13-play, 72-yard drive that stalled out on an incomplete pass by Underwood.
