DETROIT, MI - One person is dead, and another critically injured after a two-vehicle crash on Detroit’s east side.

Officers from the Detroit Police Department responded at approximately 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 to the 2100 block of Gratiot Ave. to find a vehicle had struck a building in the area.

Police said a woman died from her injuries and a man is hospitalized in critical condition at this time.

Officers did not confirm if there were any other passengers involved or the ages of the victims.

While police did not identify which building was struck, Fox 2 Detroit reported that the Avenue Grill Restaurant, located at 2155 Gratiot Ave. was damaged as a result.
