A rising demand for electricity, partially prompted by a surge of new data centers, is spurring the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to look at the feasibility of pursuing construction of a nuclear power plant in the state.

The regulatory body will hear from subject matter experts this fall to determine the technical and legal feasibility of nuclear energy generation in the state, following the regulatory body’s recent issuance of a notice of inquiry (NOI).
