When U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon visited a Warr Acres school in August, Gov. Kevin Stitt was there to greet her. So, too, was former House Speaker Charles McCall, even though he left office months ago.

McCall’s appearance fueled speculation he is Stitt’s pick to succeed him in 2026.

A new poll, however, shows McCall's main opponent, Attorney General Gentner Drummond, “seems poised to run away” with the Republican nomination. In deeply red Oklahoma, it’s the Republican primary, not the general election, that usually determines the eventual winner of statewide races.
