NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk State Spartans, coming off a tough loss to Towson last week, hosted Virginia State on Saturday with their sights set on securing their first win of the season.
Early in the game, the Spartans forced Virginia State to punt, managing to get a hand on the ball and recover it for a touchdown to put Norfolk State on the board.
Quarterback Israel Carter had a challenging night, completing 10 of 16 passes for 80 yards as the Spartans trailed 16-7 at halftime against the Trojans.
In the third quarter, Coach Michael Vick decided to bring in Otto Kuhns to spark the offense, and Kuhns didn’t disappoint.
