A man was hit and killed on Interstate 5 Saturday night after running from police who tried to pull him over, the Portland Police Bureau said in a news release.
Police say they tried to pull the driver over around 11 p.m. on North Rosa Parks Way. Officers “did not pursue the vehicle,” police said, but the driver fled anyway and crashed his car on the I-5 southbound ramp at North Rosa Parks Way.
The driver tried to cross the interstate and was killed by a passing car, the news release said.
Police closed I-5 for a time on Saturday night and early Sunday morning while they investigated the crash.
