CLEMSON — Clemson football 's offense has concerns, but the defense has been considerably better under new defensive coordinator Tom Allen.
No. 11 Clemson (1-1) escaped Troy (1-1), a Group of Five program, winning 27-16 on Sept. 6 at Memorial Stadium. The Tigers trailed 16-0 in the second quarter, but their defense only allowed one touchdown on the game's opening drive and a field goal in the second quarter after Troy returned a fumble recovery for 53 yards.
