Support the fighters, admire the survivors and remember the angels.

That was the message Danna Schaubel shared with the crowd at the start of the Walk of Hope in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada at Oakes Park in Niagara Falls on Sunday.

Among those angels is Schaubel’s mother.

In February 2024, her mother complained of having a hard time catching her breath.

The following month she was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer.

She succumbed to the disease 11 weeks later.

Women who have a genetic mutation or family history are at a higher risk of ovarian cancer. Schaubel was told to get checked.
