Person, dog displaced after kitchen fire in Decatur

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) -- One person and his dog have been displaced after a fire broke out at a home in Decatur over the weekend.

The Decatur Fire Department responded near the area of Lakewood Ave. and N. Lake Shore Dr. for a kitchen fire, just before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.

When crews arrived, they found an active kitchen fire and immediately began working to put it out. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly, and kept it from spreading further into the home. Damage was limited, the fire department said.

One person and a dog were living in the home and both were able to get out unharmed. Now, the fire department is investigating.
