SOUTH CAROLINA (WSPA) - A trooper with the South Carolina Highway Patrol has been released from the hospital Sunday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle.

Senior Trooper Mitchell Williams Jr. was assisting with a traffic stop on Interstate 77, near mile marker 9, midnight Sunday. During the assist, a truck hailing a trailer ran off the side of the road and struck Williams' in the median, SCHP said.

Williams was transported to the hospital for treatment. SCHP said he was released Sunday afternoon.
