The junior outside linebacker joined the Falcons' defense to fill a need following last season and made an immediate impact in the opener, picking up a pair of sacks.
He didn’t come from a different school but rather was plucked from the offensive side of the ball.
“They call the shots,” Hubert said of coach Troy Calhoun and defensive line coach Alex Means. “And if that’s the best chance of me seeing the field then I’ll take it.”
With high school highlight reels that alternate between long runs on offense and tackles for loss on defense, the 6-foot-1, 225-pound Hubert was recruited by Means out of Creekview High School in Canton, Ga., on both sides of the ball.
