SELIGMAN, AZ (AZFamily) — A Yuma man accused of setting multiple campers on fire was arrested in northern Arizona last month.
On the afternoon of Aug. 27, Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies and Seligman Fire District responded to two reports of fires in a rural area north of U.S. 40 and west of Old Route 66, just west of Seligman.
Deputies were the first to find two engulfed campers in different locations. A third “had been targeted but did not ignite,” according to a department statement.
Firefighters contained and extinguished the flames before the fire spread any further. After evidence was collected, detectives arrested 51-year-old Adam Merrell in connection with the two arsons.
