ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Federal officials say more than 300 South Korean nationals detained during a massive immigration raid in South Georgia are expected to be returned on a chartered flight.
The raid took place on Thursday at Hyundai’s electric vehicle megaplant in Ellabell, marking the largest single-site immigration operation in U.S. history.
Video from the scene shows hundreds of federal agents descending on the sprawling site as workers lined up outside.
Witnesses described panic, with some workers running, climbing fences and even hiding in a sewage pond before being taken into custody.
In total, 475 people were detained, most of them South Korean nationals, according to Homeland Security officials.
