CLEVELAND (WJW) – The Cleveland Orchestra announced the passing of a former music Director Sunday night.

The Cleveland Orchestra mourns the death of Music Director Laureate Christoph von Dohnányi, who led the Orchestra from September 1984 to August 2002.

According to a press release issued by the orchestra, Dohnányi passed away on Saturday at 95 years old.

He is “leaving behind a profound legacy of musical excellence, visionary leadership, and international acclaim,” the release said.
