DENMARK TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) - Agents with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that happened in Ashtabula County on Monday afternoon.
The incident happened near Stanhope-Kelloggsville Road and Anderson Road in Denmark Township, Ashtabula County Sheriff William Niemi told the FOX 8 I-Team.
The sheriff said deputies tried to stop a man on a motorcycle for traffic violations, but the suspect took off.
"He crashed the motorcycle and ran on foot into the woods," the sheriff added. "Deputies chased him and then the suspect pulled out a weapon."
The sheriff said shots were fired and the suspect was killed. The identity of the suspect is not yet being released.
No officers were injured.
