AKRON, Iowa (KTIV) - It can be hard for parents to get kids off their electronics, but a new outdoor event is looking to change that.
The first Big Sioux Outdoor Expo took place Sunday, Sept. 7, at Rivers Bend Wildlife Area in Plymouth County.
Victoria DeVos, a Naturalist with Plymouth County Conservation, said Rivers Bend Wildlife Area has been a hidden gem in the area.
DeVos said the event, which was a year in the making, has brought out many new visitors.
“I was approached about a year ago by a lady who wanted to apply for a grant that was offered in the Akron-Westfield area,” said Devos, “and she wanted to do something kind of like the Missouri River Expo that they do in Ponca, but bring it closer”
