On this date in 1935, The West Fargo Union Stock Yards built a large new facility with over 1,000,000 feet of lumber and planned a grand opening for Oct. 1.

Here is the complete story as it appeared in the paper that day:

The top view shows the present stage of construction work on the new stockyards at West Fargo. Two “blocks” are shown under way. In the left background is block “No. 1” which is nearest to completion. Its frame work is finished, part of the roofing is done, the concrete floors are poured. It has yet to be sided. At the right in the top view is the skeleton framework of another block. This view was taken looking toward the southwest. Two more blocks to the west of these are to be built.
