OROVILLE, Calif. - Inspectors discovered suspected golden mussels on a pontoon boat during a routine check at Oroville.

Officials with the California Department of Water Resources says the pontoon had previously been docked at the Pittsburgh Marina and underwent power washing before its journey to Oroville.

Thanks to the DWR's mussel inspection program, the boat was stopped from launching at Oroville facilities.

The staff immediately alerted the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for further inspection and decontamination at another site.
