Explore Fairbanks has awarded close to $100,000 to a dozen local organizations through its new Golden Heart Giving Sponsorship Program.

The program, announced in July, drew 27 applications requesting a combined $235,975. Applicants could request up to $10,000 for projects that improve quality of life for Fairbanks residents, enhance the visitor experience, or support community engagement and development. The Explore Fairbanks Community Engagement Committee reviewed and scored the applications, with final approval made by the board of directors at its Aug. 27 meeting.
