SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Lawrence Moore, 37 of Bode, received an eight-year federal prison sentence after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Moore, with prior convictions for armed robbery and aggravated battery in Cook County, Illinois, was barred from owning firearms or ammunition. The U.s. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 3vidence at the hearings showed Moore negotiated firearm sales and purchases, including with an undercover agent. In November 2024, authorities searched Moore's home, finding a loaded Smith & Wesson pistol hidden in his mattress. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were also seized. U.S. District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand sentenced Moore to 96 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release
