ROCHESTER, Minn. — The Salvation Army has wrapped up its Dress for Success program for the year, providing back-to-school clothing to 101 children in the Rochester Public School system. Organizers say the program, which began in 2022, has evolved to offer a more dignified experience for families. “We first held the event at a Walmart, and had volunteers shop with families,” said Steve Friederich, Program Director for The Salvation Army, “But the challenge was that it wasn’t a dignified experience for the families. It was very clear that they were there to get help from The Salvation Army amidst all of these other people from the general public.” To address this, the program shifted to an invisible format.
