Funding is more vital than ever as Teesside Hospice has seen an increase of 16.4% in referrals in the last 12 months. Each day is costs a staggering £18,500 to run the services of the charity and bosses are anticipating an even higher level of demand in the future.
The hospice, which is located on Northgate Road, Middlesbrough , currently provides care for around 3,000 people in the Tees Valley. Between April 2024 and April 2025, demand grew significantly across all services, with over 1,800 referrals made towards its 10-bed In-Patient Unit, bereavement counselling service, Wellbeing Centre and Lymphoedema Clinic.
The increase comes as the hospice launches its new strategy, which refines its key goals for the next three years.
