BALLSTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Ballston Spa man was arrested on Sunday after allegedly committing a hate crime, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office. Christopher Brothers, 20, faces several felony charges.

At about 1:52 p.m., sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the scene on Blue Heron Way in Ballston following a disturbance call. Authorities said Brothers had intentionally caused over $1,500 in damage to another person's car by hitting it with a hammer and jumping up and down on top of it.

According to the sheriff's office, Brothers had intentionally targeted the victim "because of a belief about that person's race." The victim is reportedly Black.
