NEW YORK (PIX11) – It's going to cost you more to fill up at the gas station in New York City, according to AAA.

The average gas price in the Big Apple is up 15 cents from last week, the roadside assistance company said. That brings the average per gallon up to $3.33.

On Long Island, the average has increased 13 cents to $3.23 per gallon. New Jersey has the lowest rise, up 11 cents to $3.17 on average per gallon.

AAA attributes the spike to the demand for gas ahead of the Labor Day Weekend, less gas supplies and gasoline production. The demand for gas in the U.S. has reached over 9.1 million barrels a day, up from just over 9 million barrels a day over the last four weeks, the roadside assistance company said.
