HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WSMV) - A man was hospitalized after he lost control of his tractor-trailer and smashed into a utility pole in Hopkinsville.

The wreck happened early Friday morning on the south end of Hopkinsville near the intersection of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Barney Drive, according to the Hopkinsville Police Department (HPD).

A 35-year-old Georgia man was driving the semi down the dark roadway at about 3:45 a.m. when he suddenly heard a loud sound and lost control of the vehicle.

“He thought he had hit something in the roadway and then heard a loud noise or “pop” causing his semi truck and trailer to pull hard to the right,” a police report from the crash said.
