BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Getting on the bus should be a fun and stress-free experience for both kids and parents.
However, with the increase of distractions in a vehicle nowadays, there has been a heightened danger when it comes to students making it onto their bus safely.
Bowling Green Police Department Public Information Officer Ronnie Ward says, “The law is that you must stop if the stop arm is extended.”
Bowling Green Independent School District Director of Transportation, Cedric Browning estimates traffic violations to be somewhere in the teens per month.
Ward says the most common reason people fail to stop for a stopped school bus is inattention from the approaching driver, as well as confusion on whether you need to stop or not.
