South Carolina has now had three people infected with measles as the U.S. surpasses more than 1,400 confirmed cases in 2025.

The S.C. Department of Public Health said it has confirmed a third case of measles in the state since the first one in July . It was in an Upstate resident who was not vaccinated.

The resident had not had any contact with a known measles case but had recently traveled abroad to a country where there is an ongoing outbreak of measles. The person is isolating at home and public health has launched a contact investigation to find and notify people who may have been exposed.
