Liam Campbell left his mark on the ice last season when the high-scoring rookie helped the Chatham Maroons win the Sutherland Cup.

He left his mark in the locker-room, too.

Campbell was back there Sunday with the rest of the Saginaw Spirit for an Ontario Hockey League pre-season game against the Windsor Spitfires at Chatham Memorial Arena.

“I made sure I got the old stall,” said Campbell, 16. “I wrote my name there at the end of last year, so I was happy to get that one back.”

The Spirit hosted the game as they begin their third season as the Maroons’ OHL affiliate.

Their lineup included five Maroons alumni: forwards Campbell and Jacob Cloutier, defenceman Graydon Jones, and goalies Sammy DiBlasi and Kaleb Papineau.

Campbell had fun playing in Chatham again.
