A Central City bakery that blends New Orleans and African food traditions and a Bywater restaurant with a modern take on Mexican food were featured on two recent videos by food blog Eater.

Both Lagniappe Bakehouse, 1825 Euterpe St., and Acamaya, 3070 Dauphine St., have received national attention over the past year. Lagniappe was named one of the best bakeries in the country by The New York Times, while Acamaya was the first restaurant reviewed by one of the Times' new co-chief food critics.
