Pitkin County’s Democrats held their annual dinner on Aug. 27 at the T-Lazy-7 Ranch. It was a nice affair, and not overly eventful. It was catered by Hickory House restaurant and the heaping amounts of sweet cornbread and butter on every table might be considered one of the evening’s highlights.
Mexican folk guitarists greeted guests, performing just outside the front entrance to the building. All the usual local Democratic officials were there, including Aspen Mayor Rachel Richards, Pitkin County Sheriff Michael Buglione and Commissioner Patti Clapper. Former chairs of the county’s Democratic organization were seated near the front as well, including Blanca O’Leary, Howie Wallach and Betty Wallach.
It was not much different from past dinners, cordial and upbeat on the surface, although
