CLEVELAND — Akron residents could see higher sewer bills starting in 2026 under a new rate structure proposed Monday by city leaders.

The plan, presented to Akron City Council, calls for phased-in rate increases through 2029 along with a new fixed fee tied to water meter size. At the same time, the city is proposing to expand its customer discount program for the first time to include eligible tenants as well as homeowners.
