LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Two Lubbock County Sheriff’s deputies are seriously injured after a crash on I-27 at 98th Street Monday morning.

Just before 9:45 a.m., officers were called to a crash with injuries involving a sheriff’s deputy unit and a semi-truck.

LSO says deputies Cavazos and Martinez were assisting a stranded motorist southbound on I-27 when the semi-truck collided with their patrol unit. The deputies were trapped between the disabled patrol unit and the guardrail of the 98th Street overpass.

One deputy was seen dangling from the overpass. LSO says citizens at a nearby gas station witnessed the crash and quickly helped rescue the deputies.

Deputies Cavazos and Martinez were transported to UMC with serious injuries and are expected to recover. One person was moderately injur
