KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - Thousands of men and women have suffered with the effects of sexual assault and harassment while serving in the military.
The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is fighting to restore funding and staffing for programs aimed at preventing sexual assault and harassment.
LULAC said the funding was cut in recent months.
Earlier this year, the Department of Defense announced across the board changes to its personnel and budget.
Coupled with the elimination of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) programs, the changes have made it harder for programs like Sexual Harassment Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) to operate or even hire the required staff to operate efficiently.
It’s a hurdle LULAC wants Congress to remove.
